The Expedition

Embarking on an audacious journey that transcends both physical and historical landscapes, Brian Hunter, an adventurer from Jackson Hole, Wyoming, has been inspired with a mountain bike odyssey that has never been attempted before. This epic adventure aims to retrace the route of the biblical exodus of the Israelites, a journey that winds through rugged terrain mirroring the challenges faced by Moses and his people millennia ago.

The route weaves its way out of the congested suburbs of Cairo Egypt into the stark desert of the Sinai peninsula.  Dodging roving bands of ISIS fighters the team will make their way into the rugged wadis (ravines and canyons) of the Shamal Sinai region until they pop out 318 miles later at the settlement of Nuwaybi’A on the coast of the gulf of Aqaba in the Red Sea.  While in Nuwaybi’A the team will meet up with friends and plan to dive for evidence of a drowned accent Egyptian army.  From there the team will pedal their way 410 miles across barren desert of Saudi Arabia to the base of mount Sinai known by the modern name of Jabel Al Lawz.  And duh, of course they are going to climb to the summit of 8,461ft Mt. sinai.  Leaving Mt. Sinai the team will have to dig deep as they traverse endless miles of the worlds’ 5th largest desert, the inhospitable Arabian desert.  This portion of the expedition will be the most tedious until they reach the southern border of the country of Jordan.  Once crossing into Jordan the team will ride their way to through several historical sites including the legendary Petra.  Once they cross the Al Jafr desert of southern Jordan the team will finally be in sight of the home stretch as they arrive at the King Hussein/ Allenby Bridge border crossing into Israel after riding close to 629 miles.  With only 28 miles left to ride, the exhausted and triumphant team will finally arrive in the city of the great king, Jerusalem!  In all the riders will cross one sea, 4 countries, 7 deserts, and cover 886 miles.

As Brian assembles his team for this extraordinary venture, it's not just a solo conquest. His family, bound by both blood and a shared adventurous spirit, joins him on this transformative expedition. Alongside them is Joel Richardson, a renowned author whose eloquence with words is matched only by his passion for exploration. Together, they form an intrepid band ready to navigate the peaks and valleys that symbolize both the physical topography and the spiritual journey of the Exodus

The expedition unfolds as a testament to human resilience and the intertwining of contemporary courage with ancient narratives. Against the backdrop of arduous miles and breathtaking landscapes, the expedition becomes a living metaphor, echoing the enduring spirit of those who sought freedom and promise in the heart of the wilderness.
